Trying to end robocalls
« on: July 29, 2015, 07:58:54 am »
I'm taking part in a campaign to end robocalls--those calls everyone seems to get that are recorded advertising messages. You can't talk back to them, and you can't accept calls while their spiel is going on because other callers will get a busy signal.

You can also report calls that aren't robocalls but that are advertising you don't want but are being called repeatedly about. (I don't have a car but get calls about replacing windshield glass, for instance.)

For a long time now I've been trying to report these calls to DoNotCall.gov. So far, I haven't seen any decline in the number of robocalls I'm getting but I keep trying and encourage others to do the same.

People with neurological problems don't need to be answering the phone to listen to recordings we don't want to hear. Daily living is complicated enough.

It's fairly easy to report a call. You enter your number and the number where the call originated, and the date and time. They'd like the name of the company that called you but it's OK if you don't know the exact name and leave it blank.

To sign up at the National DoNotCall Registry, go to:
