[I've brought this up from the old board and changed it a little.]
This can be brief because the one thing I hope everyone keeps in mind is the saying doctors learn: "First, do no harm."
These are real people here, and they have real feelings. You may be so eager to get a particular point across that you lose sight of that.
When you're putting words on the screen for everyone to see, you have enormous power. Please don't misuse it.
Using racial or ethnic slurs, or name-calling of any kind, is definitely not acceptable. You'll be asked to change any post that contains abuse of any minority group--or any group, or individual.
Quote:
They that have pow'r to hurt and will do none,
That do not do the thing they most do show,
Who, moving others, are themselves as sone,
Unmoved, cold, and to temptation slow,
They rightly do inherit heaven's graces
And husband nature's riches from expense;
They are the lords and owners of their faces,
Others but stewards of their excellence.
The summer's flow'r is to the summer sweet
Though to itself it only live and die,
But if that flow'r with base infection meet,
The basest weed outbraves his dignity:
For sweetest things turn sourest by their deeds,
Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds.
--Shakespeare, "Sonnet 94"
"To temptation slow," he says. How about slow to be tempted to press that Submit button?
--WELCOME to this board, and let's all try to keep this a friendly place.
