An editorial in the Lancet (April 18, 2020) points to faulty management of the COVID-19 pandemic on the part of the Trump administration in the US--"COVID-19 in the USA: A question of time":

In the same issue of The Lancet, there is this article pointing out the  inequities in the US health care delivery system, inequities that are standing out in stark relief during the COVID-19 outbreak--"COVID-19 exacerbating inequalities in the US":
