This person, like many others, took part in MS message boards--one in particular, mainly--for more than two decades, posting almost daily and always in a supportive way.
The main message board he was on was BrainTalk. Years ago it was so active that a thread that appeared on page 1 in the morning would be on page 5 before noon. He was a mainstay of that board. There were many others but he stayed with it when most of the others went on to the seemingly greener pastures of Facebook and Twitter.
He often had a witty comeback, maybe just a few words but those few words spoke volumes.
He never tried to present himself as anything other than he was. He never promoted himself, never wanted to be a leader or to have his own message board.
For a brief time he did have his own message board but it was by accident, in a way, and my impression was that he disliked that experience.
He was content to be who he was.
