Flannery O'Connor's racism
« on: June 20, 2020, 09:38:15 pm »
I've read quite a lot of Flannery O'Connor's fiction and correspondence, but in recent years some new documents have come to light, revealing that she held some unmistakably racist attitudes--attitudes that don't come through in her stories, but now that we know that she held these clearly racist opinions, her works will probably be treated with less respect.

An article discussing the new findings is in the New Yorker (June 20, 2020)--"How Racist Was Flannery O'Connor?"
