Ann E. Kearns, MD, MAYO CLINIC ON OSTEOPOROSIS
« on: March 08, 2024, 09:15:26 pm »
Ann E. Kearns, M.D., MAYO CLINIC ON OSTEOPOROSIS:  KEEP YOUR BONES STRONG AND RESIST YOUR RISK OF FRACTURES (2021) is by an endocrinologist at Mayo Clinic and is an informative and up-to-date account of what osteoporosis is and its possible causes and treatments.

There are valuable suggestions on how to arrange your daily life so as to avoid falls and fractures, and there is important information about the types of fractures typically encountered in osteoporosis and osteopenia.

When discussing possible links with other diseases, the author mentions autoimmune diseases like lupus but does not mention MS even though quite a few researchers have noticed the frequency with which the two disorders seem to turn up in the same patient.

The book is clearly written and not overly technical. It should be helpful to anyone facing diminishing bone density or osteoporosis--or to anyone interested in the topic in general.
