A large number of persons with MS in Western Norway were studied over the last 7 decades to find out what they were dying of and how many were dying, and this conclusion was reached:

Conclusion: Excess mortality among pwMS declined during the past seven decades, possibly due to improved diagnostics, better symptomatic treatment and access to DMTs.

The median life expectancy for persons with MS was 74.3 years, compared to 83.1 years for the general population.
