From the American Journal of Managed Care (November 25, 2019)--"Multiple sclerosis management challenges and opportunities: A Q&A with Thomas Leist, MD, PhD":

Dr. Leist states:

Quote
Leist: It is probably the majority view that MS is a syndrome and not a single disease. The current emphasis on relapsing-remitting, secondary progressive, and primary progressive MS is limited by the fact that these are phenomenological and not biological categorizations.

That MS is not a single disease is an idea that has been suggested for many years. It is interesting that Dr. Leist regards it as the majority view that "MS is a syndrome and not a single disease."
