Years ago there was an MS message board devoted to exploring the theory that HHV6 might be responsible for causing MS. That idea is still being explored in research.  From PubMed (October 17, 2018), an abstract of a paper by researchers at the National Institutes of Health entitled "Herpesvirus trigger accelerates neuroinflammation in a nonhuman primate model of multiple sclerosis."
