The well-known neurologist Oliver Sacks died in 2015 but apparently some of his previously unpublished essays are about to appear in book form, and this piece on cellphones and other innovations that are changing the way we interact with one another, entitled "The Machine Stops," appears in the February 11 issue of the New Yorker:
