Doctors say up to 30% of all medical treatment unnecessary

More than 2,000 doctors were surveyed, and 65% of them believe that 15-30% of all medical treatment is unnecessary--with "fear of malpractice" accounting for 85% of the reasons for unnecessary treatment, according to this article in MedPage Today (September 10), citing an article in PLoS One:
