From Medical News Today (July 15, 2019), "Why even slim people may benefit from calorie restriction":

I've been on a diet similar to the Mediterranean diet for many years, sometimes closer than others but even more now that I no longer work. We have a fairly large veggie garden, and my diet is probably about 60-75% plant based. I do it for the MS but also because of high blood pressure and cholesterol. I don't count calories but I watch what I eat almost all of the time. I try to focus on the "super foods" as much as possible. Our fridge and pantry are full of veggies and fruit. I'm currently at about 135 pounds and that feels healthy and seems to help my back pain somewhat. My highest weight was about 155 when I was working long hours in 2012 and 2013 and I was also taking full time MBA classes online. My husband was cooking, and I was eating less healthy food at work many times. I had a breast cancer scare during that time and I wonder if my weight and diet was part of it?

I think that even slim people with poor diets are more susceptible to disease and poor health.

I agree that even slim people who aren't eating a healthy diet are at risk for health issues.

I've been looking into information about diet as it comes along, and I have yet to see one article saying obesity is harmless. As for my MS, I'm wondering if I should always keep my weight at the low end of the normal range. I seem to feel better when that is where it is (108-112 instead of 120-125).

I don't know why this should be true unless it's the muscle weakness talking: the less weight I have to carry around on my frame, the less my muscles are being expected to do?
