I've been concerned in recent years when noticing medical articles cautioning doctors against over-prescribing antibiotics--concerned because people with MS seem particularly vulnerable to infections and to having infections that become rather serious even when people without MS find them easier to shake off.  This article from NEJM Journal Watch (March 3, 2019) interested me although it concerns the over-65 population. What is said strikes me as applicable to persons with MS as well. The title is "For Seniors with UTIs, Delayed Antibiotics Lead to Sepsis and Death":
