Less costly hearing aids may be available before long, at least for people with mild to moderate hearing loss. Let's hope. The price of hearing aids makes them out of reach for most people unless there is insurance coverage. The New England Journal of Medicine has a good article, "Hearing Loss in Adults," summarizing the current situation (December 21, 2017):
