Jane Brody, the New York Times columnist and author, has a column entitled  "The Empty Diet Claim Season" (January 13, 2014). You can read the article here.

Along with a discussion of the pitfalls of fad diets, she discusses more effective weight-loss methods, giving high marks to Weight Watches. She also discusses the National Weight Control Registry. (I've been enrolled in it for over 20 years.)
